Decanters - Just Plan Fun!

A decanter is a vessel used to hold liquid, first used to hold wine this style helped the sediment settle to the bottom. Since then, decanters have taken on a life of their own. You can find decanters in every size, shape and made of just about any material. Decanters now come with every type of alcohol available.  I have seen decanters made to commemorate events, people, buildings, cities, states, animals, ways of life, etc. The list is so long it may scare you and I have even seen decanters designed to scare you.

During Ancient Roman time there where glass decanters, after the fall of the Roman Empire, glass production became scarce and the majority of decanters would be made of metal or earthenware. The Venetians brought back glass decanters during the Renaissance period and developed the style of a long skinny neck that opens to a wide body, increasing the surface area of the wine that is exposed and reacting with air. British glass makers in the 1730s designed the stopper to limit exposure to air. Since that time, very little change to the decanter has been made. With all this said, to follow is my decanters from my Mini Bottle collection. I am sure you can find a type of decanter that you like as well. Cheers.
